“We’ll lose it.”
That’s how President Duterte sees the campaign against illegal drugs
now that the Philippine National Police (PNP) is out of the picture.
Pres. Duterte, in an interview over PTV-4 Friday night, answered frankly
when asked by host Erwin Tulfo about how the government would fare
without the PNP.
“Frankly? I say we’ll lose it,”Pres. Duterte said in the interview taped Thursday night.
The all-out drug war was one of the three main campaign promises of
Duterte along with stopping corruption in government and criminality.
In the same interview, Duterte affirmed that PNP’s Oplan Tokhang has been discontinued.
“Oo, wala na (‘Tokhang’ is discontinued). Mag-usap tayo next year
(Let’s just talk about it next year),” Duterte said, hinting how much
time PDEA will have versus the drug campaign.
“Ito ang gusto ninyo kasi pinagbibintangan niyo ang gobyerno, halos lahat na lang [ng patayan],” he said.
The President earlier said that if something goes wrong in the drug operations, the public should not blame him.
“When something not to your liking is happening, do not look at me.
Praise the bleeding hearts. Kasi ginawa ko na talaga [ang] lahat,”
Duterte said.
