VP Leni happy with the rise of her satisfaction ratings.

VP Leni Robredo, who campaigns for those in the fringes of society or laylayan, is elated over the results of the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey that saw her approval rating obtaining +41 last month.

Her net satisfaction rating went up by five points from +36 she received in June.
The survey conducted from September 23 to 27 among 1,500 respondents, showed 62 percent were satisfied with the Vice President while 21 percent were dissatisfied.

“Yes of course, I’m happy with the rise,” VP Robredo told reporters at St. Theresa’s College in Quezon City when asked to comment on the SWS survey.

“This means the people feel what we are doing. It wants to say that people accept the good things that we are doing despite the very limited resources of our offices,” she said in a mix of English and Filipino.

The Vice President credited the surge in her satisfaction rating to the public perception of her office’s work to assist needy communities around the country through Angat Buhay, her antipoverty program.

In its first year, Angat Buhay has benefited 83,707 families in 153 areas through P145-million worth of projects, mostly from its private partners. VP Robredo’s flagship project marked its first anniversary on October 10.

“It is a big thing it’s being felt [by the public] because it gives us more strength and inspiration to do well and further expand what we are doing,” she said.

While surveys serve as a “barometer” for public policies and programs, VP Robredo, a former housing chief, underscored the importance of “not being ruled” by surveys and making the right choices even it is unpopular.

“The surveys are supposed to give you a feel of what people want and what they don’t. Most of the time, this is the barometer of how people accept or receive our policies, our programs, etcetera,” she said.

“It’s always a good feeling when you get high ratings in surveys because it is an affirmation that you’re doing something right but again, sometimes when you do something right, it is unpopular,”VP  Robredo noted.

“The measure should be always what is right—if you’re doing what is right. So these surveys, it is important for you to feel the pulse of the nation,” she said.
