Drop in PRRD's ratings expected by the church leader!

                        Drop in the net satisfaction rating of President Duterte not surprising to church leaders.

                      A Catholic prelate actually expected a much lower satisfaction rating citing the dissatisfaction of the people in the Duterte administration.

                     “The drop in the ratings of President Duterte is not a surprise for me. I expected it even to be lower in view of the deep dissatisfaction of the people with Duterte’s pro-death dictatorial administration,” Sorsogon Bishop Arturo Bastes said in an interview.

                     He said that as it is, social unrest is starting and foreign investors are shying away from the Philippines because of human rights violation.
       
                  “Slowly the economic gains of our country are eroding because of bad international reputation. I hope that we will not regress to become again the economic basket case of Asia,” said Bastes.

                   Even foreign leaders, he said are jeering us because of the policies of the present administration.

                 The Sorsogon prelate said the result of the survey should serve as a “wake-up call” to the president and his supporters.
 
                   This, Bastes said especially since the sector which expressed the deepest disappointment with the administration belongs to Class E.

                “The poorest among the poor Filipinos, the primary victims of his pro-death policy,” he said.

                  Father Jerome Secillano, executive secretary of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines public affairs committee, believes the net satisfaction and trust rating of the president would continue to go down unless the latter shapes up.

                “It will continue to go down unless he shapes up especially on issues of corruption, extrajudicial killings, police impunity and others,” he said.

                The CBCP official said such reaction from the people no longer surprised him.

               “We’re talking about a person who obviously has a penchant for lying. So, how do we expect people to react? It is not a surprise anymore that his trust rating will dwindle,” said Secillano.

               Based on the Third Quarter 2017 Social Weather Survey, conducted from September 23 to 27, 2017, 67 percent of adult Filipinos “satisfied,” 14 percent “undecided,” and 19 percent “dissatisfied” with President Duterte’s performance.

                Duterte also obtained a net satisfaction rating of +48, 18 points lower than the “very good” net satisfaction rating of +66 in June 2017.
